Training and removal for lake associations and communities

20220411_130948_Original

Invasive Phragmites Australis is quickly making its way across The Land Betweeb bioregion, Cottage Country; spreading where construction and disturbance occurs and along road corridors during maintenance.

Impacts for wildlife are devastating, and the reed also is a hazard by blocking views, and limiting drainage.

Controlling phragmites effectively and with ecological considerations takes time and patience and requires a special approach to ensure the eradication does not actually exacerbate the issue.  There is hope! We have seen changes within three years of active maintenance.

The Land Between staff have been trained by other professionals, including Georgian Bay Forever and researchers, on cutting and disposal techniques.

We can provide training to your group, municipality, and/or assist in removal and disposal.
