About the region
The Land Between is the last extensive wilderness landscape in southern Ontario. It is a meeting place for species from north and south, and a vital home for culturally important wildlife such loon, bear, moose and lake trout, but also a refuge for 59 Species at Risk. Because of the significant, species, spaces and ecosystem services this region is 1 of 15 Community Nominated Priority Places in Canada.
The Land Between region extends across central Ontario from the Ottawa Valley in the east to Georgian Bay and Southern Parry Sound. The region sits between the Canadian Shield and St. Lawrence Lowlands in the south, spanning 10 counties and 29 townships.
