Supportive & Sustainable Economies

Biodiverse ecosystems, natural interconnected habitats and vital community economies can thrive together. Ultimately, our health and wealth come from the Living Land. Read the three topics below to learn more.

Nature-based Tourism

The Land Between region is a place of many natural wonders, related cultural assets, inspiring histories, and vital stories. From the tall rocky Canadian Shield cliffs, to mystical wetlands, globally rare alvars and habitats, the holy Petroglyphs and Pictographs, an ancient water highway of the Trent Severn Waterway, and secret forest trade routes, the Land Between has much to discover. We have complied a list of some wonderful sites across this unique land. Click on the button below to check them out!

Building Between: Green and Local Building

Sustainable and eco-conscious building design is important for maintaining the integrity of our natural systems and minimizing our ecological footprint, while ensuring the infrastructure is healthy and durable for future generations.

Our Building Between - Eco-innovation effort works to provide property owners and developers with access to information, resources, local experts, green building solutions and permaculture know-how (architectural design that reflect and use earth processes)- in order to transform mainstream development styles into more sustainable and respectful solutions that support local economies.

Feeding the Land Between

Our current food systems and supply chains are extremely vulnerable to disruption (as we have all recently witnessed). On top of their vulnerability to economic disputes (like trade wars) and logistical backlog, climate change will likely cause major disruptions in the near future. Food security (the ability of a country, province, town etc, to provide enough food to support themselves) is a concern that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The Land Between Charity is working with farmers, and partners to improve the food security of the region.
