Bill 23 must be rescinded immediately. It does not solve the housing crisis. Not only does Bill 23 fail to solve the problem it was designed to fix, but it causes great harm to rights, our communities and our heritage.
Changing planning policies and authorities to allow for sprawling developments will defile our systems, and result in isolated communities with less housing than needed. Meanwhile, all recognized reports, and even the Province's own report, indicates there's enough room in the Greater Golden Horseshoe's existing greenfields if density is increased.
Developing protected natural areas such as wetlands will harm our water systems and our communities access to clean water. It will also devastate the sport fishing industry. Destroying wetlands will also increase floods and droughts by removing the divine designs that function purely for our benefit.
The Bill fails our agricultural sector and puts our already fragile food sources in jeopardy.
Bill 23 will cost municipalities and taxpayers because of lost development fees but also due to the overwhelming amount of services that will be required for the unnecessary new neighbourhoods.
The unnecessary destruction of innocent souls in our wildlife, which only serve to inspire, help and heal us, is egregious.
We are also shocked and horrified by the entire dismissal of the Duty to Consult with Indigenous Communities regarding their Rights and Title. There are no more excuses for this level of disregard.
Changing the processes of the Ontario Land Tribunal and giving excess power to the Minister and Premier is a violation of the rights of Ontarians to participate in shaping their futures. This is an obscenity in our society.
Additionally, walking back on promises made in campaigns (on multiple occasions) to leave the Green Belt untouched is dishonest and disrespectful.
It has been shown across the world that offsetting fails. Therefore, without meaningful protection for original and fundamental natural spaces, Ontario is put at risk and doomed to experience major losses in quality of life.
It is impossible to have faith a government that turns their back on each and every citizen, their rights and their future.
For these reasons and countless others, Bill 23 must be scrapped. Please listen to the calls coming from across the province and cancel Bill 23. There are other solutions available. Build up not out, densify in areas where it is possible, allow for sustainable communities to be developed, protect the spaces that are important to our well-being and heritage.
We would appreciate a considered response and related updates from your office, and can be reached at______________
Sincerely,

Telephone Talking Points
- Bill 23 must be rescinded immediately.
- It does not solve the housing crisis- there's enough room in the GGH according to all recognized reports.
- It allows the premier to play favourites while entirely overriding our rights and the rights of our elected officials to shape our communities and therefore our futures
- The cuts and injections will only result in isolated communities with less housing than needed according to all third-party expert reviews.
- Developing protected natural areas such as wetlands will harm our drinking water supplies; our access to clean water, and it will devastate the sport fishing industry and this heritage.
- Destroying wetlands and removing Conservation Authority oversight will also increase floods and also droughts because wetlands act as sponges on the landscape- no human made solution can take their place.
- Offsetting rarely works to replace any fundamental functions of wetlands and other vital habitats - it is a foolish proposition when all the evidence across the world shows that this fails.
- The Bill takes away important agricultural lands and potential putting our already fragile food sources in jeopardy.
- Bill 23 will cost municipalities and taxpayers because of lost development fees but also due to the overwhelming amount of services that will be required for the unnecessary new neighborhoods.
- The bill results in the unnecessary destruction of innocent souls in our wildlife. These beings only serve to inspire us, provide irreplaceable services to us such as pollination, seed dispersal, medicines, pest and virus control, nutrient cycling, food sources, and more to us. There is no divine reason for killing these beings. Turtles cannot readily be relocated, and doing so often results in their death. Fish populations cannot be simply replaced. Moose that are displaced are more vulnerable to disease and death. There are also countless insects such as dragonflies, beneficial zooplankton, and amphibians, birds and more that will be put in further jeopardy
- We are shocked and horrified by the entire dismissal of the Duty to Consult with Indigenous Communities regarding their Rights and Title, which is a duty ratified under the Supreme Court of Canada which is divested to the Province. There are no more excuses for this level of disregard.
