Become a Friend of The Land Between

Friends are monthly donors whose support helps The Land Between reach our goals to:

  1. Protect Disappearing Wildlife – from the Whippoorwill, to the Blanding’s turtle, lake trout, and common loon, the Land Between works to research and protect vanishing species that are listed as “At Risk” and even common wildlife that are declining. We work with landowners to teach them how to steward properties, train citizens in science and monitoring, and directly implement solutions such as turtle crossing signs, turtle tunnels, snake fencing, wetland restoration and more.
  2. Keep Lakes Healthy for Future Generations- through mapping and monitoring fish habitats, restoring shorelines, gathering research and data on lake health and analyzing trends, designing native shoreline gardens, teaching landowners how to identify and choose wildlife plants, and our new Blue Lakes Program (an ecolabel for stewardship excellence)- The Land Between works hard to keep these fragile and fantastic ecosystems in tact.
  3. Inspiring and Cultivating Future Leaders- by designing and delivering programs for kids to connect with nature, learn about world around them, develop new skills and gain confidence, we are supporting new leaders. We works with kids in schools to deliver workshops, have designed curriculum for all grade and secondary schools, and offer kids camps and events.
  4. Engaging Communities and Cultivating Reciprocal Relationships Across Divides– we work with Indigenous leaders, local harvesters and cottagers, across jurisdictions, and across ages to ensure vibrant relationships and communities are health and enrich our lives and our efforts. This adds capacity, ensures robust and innovative solutions are found, and reduces duplication of efforts. The Land Between holds Traditional Talking Circles with kids, communities, stakeholders to find common ground and reveal valuable knowledge. We use a partnership model that ensures everyone brings their strengths to the table, diverse groups are engaged, and everyone benefits.

Friends are patron who provide us with insight into community needs, issue and solutions. Friends are invited to annual meetings to glean new ideas and information to supports our work and to identify innovative ways forward. Friends also receive a Land Between T-shirt- as well as first notice for training opportunities and events and invitations to meetings.  Become a Friend of TLB by donating monthly.
