Publications

The Land Between publishes a biannual newsletter called "The Skink". Here we feature new discoveries, local stories, conservation projects and ideas, and partner activities. Also included are articles on a focal species and key destinations, a kid’s activity page, and our calendar of events.

The Skink Archives:

The designation "The Land Between" first appeared as the title of a publication by Vernon LeCraw, in which he described the history and settlement of the area. This volume was recently re-published, in limited quantities, and is available for $20.00, by contacting .

Field Identification tools:

The Land Between Birds in Decline; Turtles at Risk; Snakes at Risk; and Rare Habitats monitoring cards and posters are ideal for your home or cottage, or when you are out and about. These tools provide you with identification features for species and spaces that are unique to the region. The posters are small enough to hang by the window. The monitoring cards are water-resistant and collapsible, and clip to your back pack or belt. To receive copies, please contact us.

Under Development:

The Land Between in 50 Scenes, is a hard-cover bound book, portraying elements of the region’s culture and history through intimate stories and expressive pictures. The publication is under development and we anticipate it will be available for purchase in spring 2009.

The Land Between in Living Colour Calendar is under development and will be available for purchase for January 2009. It will featureexpressive portraits of unique species and spaces, and highlight events and activities in the region.

Teaching Kits for elementary school classes in geography and science are under development.

Research

The Land Between works with educational institutions, researchers, and many students across Ontario to answer questions regarding the features, systems, and trends within the region. Research themes are clustered under topics of Nature, Culture, Development, and Planning. We post the findings and published papers, upon completion, on our Science and Discoveries page.
